FEMA Letter to Highlands (pdf)
12-22-17 The Borough received the Final Letter of Determination from FEMA that we have been diligently pursuing! The issue date of this letter is December 20, 2017 and has started the six month window of working with the State to formally adopt the maps. The new Flood Maps will be effective June 20, 2018 and will replace the current 2009 Effective Maps. Downtown properties are going to an AE Zone (some 11’ and some 12’) with the exception of the houses that front along Marine Place. They will remain in the V Zone.

Seasonal Employment
The Borough of Highlands is now accepting applications for seasonal employment as snow laborers. Applications are available at the Highlands Borough Hall, 42 Shore Drive, Monday to Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm.
Volunteer Hours Reimbursement
10/29/17 On this 5 year anniversary of Sandy, the Borough is pleased to announce FEMA has approved a reimbursement for volunteer hours during and after the storm in the amount of approx. $66,000. These funds will go into the storm trust fund.
